Residing With: No One Profession(s) Held: Just about everything, a Jack of all trades Employment: Physical Strengths: Being a werewolf Danté has twice the strength of a normal human. He likes to work out, especially with his jujitsu and shadow boxing. This adds to his physical strength making him very strong and quick. He also has good dexterity and agility. Physical Weaknesses: Silver, full moon, allergic to stawberries Magical Abilities: Transformation on full moon Personal Skills & Training: Trained in jujitsu for several years. Personal Weaknesses: Dark-haired women, sub sandwiches, strawberries (loves them but is allergic) Personality: There's a part of Danté that has been frozen in time because of his troubled past. He doesn't recall what it is but it has shaped him into the person he is now. People often describe him as aloof and calculating while being quite glib at the same time. He has a flare for the dramatic, often making up whole new worlds that he believes to be real. He makes up stories to go with the reality he's created and will go as far as 'living' them out. He is very creative in this aspect and has often been told that he should have become an actor instead of the odd jobs that he finds himself doing. However, Danté has a hard time putting his energy into just one thing. This inability to focus is a demonstration of his impulsiveness. Danté has a tendency to do things on a whim without taking other people's feelings (or other people for that matter) into consideration. He does what he wants to do with very little thought about the consequences. Danté had a hard time relating to other people's feelings. This lack of empathy does not allow him to see people beyond their face value. He is a shallow individual and will only see what is presented to him just so long as it fits in with whatever reality he has created. He will never admit to being shallow and will often act like he has all of the depth in the world. Danté also has a tendency to sleep around, choosing to have these shallow relationships instead of something deeper with any one person. He believes himself to be too good for most of the women he sleeps with and he does carry himself as a very egotistical person. However if Danté does find a woman he believes is worthy then he will do everything in his power to make that person realize that they belong together. Danté is very loyal in that sense. There is also a part of Danté that is prone to occasional bursts of anger or violence, and when he succumbs to this darker side there is very little that can stop him. History: There was an unsettling storm blowing about on the night that Douglas was born. His mother had been in labor for hours while his father paced back and forth in front of the delivery room door. Her screams of agony gripped at David's heart and he wished he could have been in there with Darlene, but he had a terrible allergy - blood. The damn stuff made him faint faster than an overdressed church goer on a hot Sunday afternoon. It wasn't a manly trait by far, but it wasn't something that David could control. So he waited outside... And waited. And waited. Until he heard the cries of a baby from behind the door at 8:23 PM. Darlene was passed out from a combination of the drugs and the pain, and so David was the first to hold his baby boy in his arms. The Donovan's were a happy couple in general, but with the arrival of their first born son they were ecstatic. The had spent months working on the baby's room in their three-bedroom ranch style home, painting it a light blue color in honor of their baby boy. New furniture, new clothes, new toys, new everything was bought for the baby. They had every intention of spoiling him for the rest of his life. But what is it about the best laid plans that go to waste? Despite their preparations the Donovans had no clue that next door to them lived a truly psychotic couple, a man and woman who had integrated themselves into their neighborhood by disposing of the previous owners. No one noticed as everyone was too caught up in their own lives to pay attention and the dangerous couple (who went by the names of Duke and Dolly) couldn't be happier about that fact. The only thing that people did notice about Duke and Dolly was the fact that they were a couple of oddballs that kept strange hours and were often seen talking to themselves when they were outdoors. "The strange ones," as dubbed by the neighborhood gossip, but that term barely covered Duke and Dolly. The night of January 3, 1970 marked the end of Douglas's innocence. Duke and Dolly, after a drug-induced session of sex and physical violence to one another, decided to run next door to the Donovans for a little fun. They broke in and held the couple at gunpoint as the dark-haired Dolly snatched little Douglas out of his bed. The Donovan's pleaded for the deranged couple to release their child but it was useless. Dolly was still in such a haze from the drugs and alcohol that she ran out of the Donovan's house and back into her own. There she and Duke kept the baby in the bedroom with them and exposed him to things that no two-year old should ever see. Sex... drugs... alcohol... violence. While he was too young to truly comprehend what he saw, it was still enough to ingrain it in his mind. The Donovans had contacted the police and within an hour or two five squad cars had appeared on the scene. They surrounded Duke and Dolly's house and yelled at them through the blow horn to release Douglas. But there was no negotiating with the couple. They stayed locked up in their house for two days fending off the police and using baby Douglas's life to prolong the stand-off. It was a sick display... but then again Duke and Dolly were far from being considered well. It wasn't until the second day of the stand-off did things go downhill. The "happy" couple had gotten into an argument over their next move. In an instant Dolly was shot dead with a bullet straight to the head. Duke, distraught over his lover's death, followed Dolly into the afterlife after he buried the barrel of the gun into his mouth and pulled the trigger. All of this happened right in front of little Douglas. The baby was splattered in blood and crying frantically from the loud sound of the gunshots. The next fourteen years of Douglas's life would be spent in therapy sessions with some of the most expensive counselors in order to overcome his traumatic experience. He was a quiet child and adolescent, choosing to keep mostly to himself and his studies. He didn't fit in with the people around him choosing to stand out rather than blend in. It wasn't until he reached high school that is that he began to change. His attitude seemed to turn around then going from the quiet introvert to a charming and loquacious man. This trend continued throughout high school and even into college where he decided to major in psychology - a choice he said that was influenced by all the help he received when he was younger. But tragedy struck Douglas - who had begun to go by his middle name Danté when he was in high school - when he was 20 years old. While out on a camping trip by himself, Danté was attacked by a werewolf. It was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Danté had gone camping on a full moon, and the Were had taken to the forests for his shifting. The lycanthrope didn't kill Danté but he did injure him badly on his left leg. The young man was found two days later by park rangers who patched up his leg and took him back to his dormitory. Danté told everyone that a bear had attacked him while in reality he caught a good look at what had taken a bite into him. A creature unlike anything he had ever witnessed, the kind you only saw in movies or read about in scary stories. It had lunged at him with a ferocity unlike anything Danté had ever seen. A part of him admired it, but there was another part that feared the darkness that emanated from within the beast. He didn't want to call it what he thought it was, choosing to believe that those kind of monsters didn't exist out there. But when the next full moon came around Danté knew that it was indeed a werewolf and he had now become one. A unique monster in the world of the praeternaturals. Danté would spend the next 35 years of his life wandering all over the world, learning to come to terms with his new life. It was easier than most would think and he came to enjoy the perks of his new found powers. There was only one thing that bothered him and that was his loneliness. Extended life didn't mean a damn thing if he didn't have someone to share it with, and his frivolous relationships did little to fill that void that he felt. The women he slept with often vanished without another word and he would go from one to another to fulfill his need. Danté was living in the mid-west of the United States when the virus hit. Luckily he was immune and he used that opportunity to run to Europe, believing that maybe things would be better there. He was wrong, but it was too late to go to a haven. Danté was caught in the middle of the war, doing everything he could to survive the warfare that surrounded him. It would be weeks after hiding in forests and caves that Danté would be found by a group of praeternaturals that had been sent out to look for survivors. Luck was shining down upon him more than he realized at that time as the group took him to Elysium. | |||||||||
